WHO’S BEHIND IT?

I’m Daniel. I’m a husband, dad of three and a full-time worker from the North East of Scotland who somehow still finds time to run a ridiculous number of miles.

Miles & Mud is a bit of fun — a record of what I get up to around all the usual stuff: work, family, early mornings, night shifts, training, races, the garden and whatever other idea seems like a good one at the time.

I’m not an elite athlete or a coach. I’m just a runner who enjoys getting out there, trying things for myself and finding out what actually works when life doesn’t leave you unlimited time to train.

REAL MILES.

REAL GEAR.

REAL LIFE.

There are plenty of places to find polished reviews, perfect training plans and people who appear to have their entire lives figured out.

This isn’t really one of them.

Miles & Mud is about the reality of running — the good days, the bad days, the kit that works, the kit that doesn’t, the routes worth doing and the questionable ideas that somehow become adventures.

RUN. GROW. REPEAT.

When I’m not running, I’m usually growing something.

The garden has become another part of the Miles & Mud experiment — growing food, cooking it, turning some of it into running fuel and figuring out whether growing your own food can actually fit around work, family and training.
